AtithiPass — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 August 2026
In one line: Your identity documents stay on your phone, encrypted. We do
not store them on our servers. They are shared only with a hotel you choose, at the
moment you check in.
Who we are
AtithiPass ("we", "us") provides a mobile app that lets a traveller store their travel/ID
document once and share it with a hotel to check in faster. Contact:
hello@atithipass.com.
What the app stores, and where
- Your documents (passport / PAN / driving licence / voter ID) and the details read
from them are stored only on your device, in encrypted app storage
(Android Keystore / EncryptedSharedPreferences). They are never uploaded to, or retained
on, our servers.
- We do not create an account for you. We do not collect your name, email, phone
number, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers.
- We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not sell or
share your data with third parties for advertising.
- Anonymous diagnostics (opt-out): to keep the app reliable, it sends us basic
health signals — event names (e.g. "document read", "check-in shared"), success/failure,
error messages, timings, your device model, the app version, and a random anonymous
install id. This never includes your documents, images, name, or ID numbers. You can
turn it off any time in Settings → Data → Share anonymous diagnostics.
When document data is transmitted
- Reading a document (onboarding): the document photo is sent to our secure server
only to read it (extract the printed details) and is returned to your phone. That
processing is transient — no image or data is stored server-side during this step.
- Checking in at a hotel: when you scan a hotel's QR code and tap "Share", the
document you choose is sent to that hotel so they can complete your statutory guest
registration (as required by local law, e.g. India's Form C for foreign guests). This
happens only with your explicit action, per hotel.
- All transmission is over encrypted HTTPS.
Aadhaar
The app does not accept or store Aadhaar. Aadhaar images are refused by design.
Permissions
- Camera — to photograph your document and to scan a hotel's QR code. Used only
while you are on those screens.
Retention & deletion
Because documents live on your device, you control them. Remove any document any
time from "My Pass", or uninstall the app, and the encrypted data is deleted from your phone.
Once you share a document with a hotel, that hotel becomes the controller of the copy it
received for its own record-keeping — please refer to that hotel's privacy notice.
Children
AtithiPass is intended for adults (18+) managing their own travel documents.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change. Material changes will be
reflected in the app.
